Indications:

Levoflaxacin is prescribed to treat bacterial infections of the skin, kidneys, bladder, and prostate. Usually it is prescribed to treat bacterial infections that fail to respond to other antibiotics or to treat severe infections.

How to take:

Take Levofloxacin as prescribed by your doctor. The usual prescribed dose of Levofloxacin is 250 mg, 500 mg, or 750 mg administered orally every 24 hours, as indicated by infection. Take Levofloxacin with a full glass of water with or without food.

Precautions:

Avoid using Levofloxacin if you are allergic to fluoroquinolones such as ciprofloxacin, moxifloxacin, ofloxacin, norfloxacin, lomefloxacin. Inform your doctor if you have a heart rhythm disorder and take such medications as Cardioquin, Quinidex, Quinaglute, disopyramide etc.

Side effects:

Common side effects include headaches, nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, sleep discorders (insomnia), skin itching. Severe and rare side effects include fainting, diarrhea that is watery or bloody, changes in behaviour, including feeling confused, hallucinations, depression, etc, seizure (convulsions), skin rash.
