Cetirizine
Indications:
Cetirizine is used to prevent and treat symptoms of upper respiratory allergies such as watery eyes, sneezing, runny nose, and stuffy nose. It is also used to treat hay fever and chronic hives. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by the physician.
How to take:
Check the label on the medicine and use Cetirizine as directed by the physician. It can be taken by mouth with or without food. In case as dose is missed, take one as soon as possible. Do not take 2 doses at once. For more detailed information please see label and please consult specialist. Do not take more Cetirizine than it is indicated at the label without consulting your doctor.
Precautions:
Tell health care provider if patient is using other medications than Cetirizine because some medicines may interact with the drug especially Theophylline. Theophylline may increase the risk of the side effects of Cetirizine. Use Cetirizine with caution as it may cause certain side effects such as drowsiness. This side effect may worsen with alcohol intake therefore alcoholic beverages should be avoided while on this drug. Also use sunscreen or sunblock when exposed to the sun as this drug causes sunburn easily. Use Cetirizine with caution on elderly, children and pregnant women.
